The Obama Spinmeisters Debunked
July 27, 2008
Hey, al-Maliki is right in line with what Obama wants, to get out of Iraq in 16 months, right?
Wrong. Read this, not only for an explanation, but also for a good grip on the disingenuity of Smokin’ Barry.
Is “NiceCritic” Corrupt Communication?
July 23, 2008
Ephesians 4:29, in the KJV I’ve got stuffed into my brain, says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is useful for edification, that it may minister grace to the hearers.” I was talking the other night with my Bible study group about what makes an action sinful, about the fact that we can be right in our motives and attitudes, but yet be wrong in what we actually do. I’m of the opinion that anonymous communication may well fall under this classification: something undertaken, perhaps, with the best of motives, and even with a good attitude, but still not the right way to approach a situation.
But I’m open to being persuaded otherwise.
What Did Obama Say to al-Maliki?
July 22, 2008
Anybody else wonder, like me, what Smokin’ Barry said to al-Maliki when they met yesterday? I mean, how did that introduction go?
“Hi, Mr. Prime Minister, I’m Barack Obama. I’m really so happy for you now that Iraq is a free country. Of course, I never believed in engaging in this war, and so if it had been up to me, you’d be living under the thumb of Saddam Hussein at this moment, and your daughter would be in grave danger of being raped and mutilated by Uday and Husay. So we’re having a nice breakfast together?”
I mean, wouldn’t simple honesty prompt Smokin’ Barry to say something like that?
“Christian” as an Article of Speech
July 21, 2008
I’m in the middle of reading Velvet Elvis, by Rob Bell, a book that has drawn some fire from conservative evangelical circles. I understand why, and think that maybe at a point or three Bell could have been a bit more careful in his wording; that said, I love this book. I thought I’d toss out a line from the book and let you chew on it:
“‘Christian’ is a great noun, but a lousy adjective.”

Fools for Christ’s Sake? Or Just Plain Fools?
July 16, 2008
Ronald Weinland…”eBay pastor”…giving away semiautomatic rifles to youth…and now this:
There are fools for Christ’s sake, and then there are just plain fools.
Tonight I was over at Barnes and Noble, and I picked up a book called “Grand Theft Jesus”, which is one of those books excoriating conservative Christians; I knew this because among the endorsers were the late George Carlin and Barry Lynn. At any rate, as I thumbed through it, I found myself once again thanking the Lord for our enemies, because as a work of “journalism”, it was laughable, an amalgam of out-of-context quotes, gross overgeneralizations, selective quotes, and the like, cobbled together into a book that would only impress the wholly naive. And yet, every time I see things like this Todd Bentley clown, and the rest of the above folks, I shudder to realize that we’ve given folks like the author of “Grand Theft Jesus” more ammunition.

This phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.
