One Blogger Heads SOUTH
I’ve been waiting to make this announcement until I a.) let all the right people know the right way first, and b.) found a few moments amid what has lately been a quite hectic schedule. Yours Truly and family are packing up and heading south, to Marietta, Georgia, where I will be assuming the pastorate of a “church re-plant”, the first EFree church in the state of Georgia, a ready-to-move-ahead group of folks who have fallen on some hard times, at least numbers-wise. We have been down to
Marietta four times for various visits with the group, and I come away convinced that there exists on their part a genuine desire to move in some new directions, founded on the timeless truth of the Word and the gospel of Christ.
Our family is ready for the move; we have had 13-and-a-half years of good ministry here in Mercer, PA, and we’re certainly leaving on great terms. I will always cherish the many, many wonderful memories of our time here, the way God has molded us and shaped us and, hopefully, used us in some people’s lives. My final Sunday will be October 22, and if there are not tears a-flowing from Yours Truly, I’ll be pretty surprised.
I’ll be giving updates on how things are going, but since this has been decided for a couple of weeks, I figured that it was high time I let my blog readers in on the story. As our Lord brings me/us to your mind, we’d certainly appreciate prayer, and in particular, that our home here in Mercer would sell soon.

This phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Marietta. Is that where the Big Chicken and the “Gone With The Wind” museum are?
Hope the move and the new ministry go really well, and that God’s belssing is with you and your old & new churches every step of the way.

As a matter of fact, YES on the Big Chicken; not sure about the GWTW museum, but you’re probably right…Scarlett.

I just wanted to say thanks for the integrity and Ministry you’ve had while at FCC – I know you’ve impacted many more lives than just my own.

Heading SOUTH? Georgia? Marietta? Suburban Atlanta?
May God grant Many Blessings to you, your family and both Church congregations. May your transition from PA to GA go smoothly. You’ll enjoy it come February, when PA has a Blizzard while GA has rain with temps in the 40′s.

Byron,
I look forward to hearing (and reading) how God will be at work in and through the first free church in Georgia.
Blessings,
Sean Dennis (from the Fried Chicken HQ in Louisville)
