In the Ongoing Campaign to Expose Joel Osteen…
Here is a great review of Osteen’s book Y0ur Best Llfe Now (hopefully, using a couple of wrong letters will prevent Google from linking to it on my sidebar…):
As Gilbert says,
“If Joel Osteen wants to be the Norman Vincent Peale of the twenty-first century, he has every right to give it a shot. But he should stop marketing his message as Christianity, because it is not. You cannot simply make reference to God, quote some Scripture, call what you’re saying “spiritual principles,” and pass it off as Christianity. That’s the kind of thing that will have people “enlarging their vision” and “choosing to be happy” all the way to hell.”

Evangelical Hermeneutics: The New Versus the Old
This phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

I wish someone would write a book “How to Rescue Loved Ones from the Gospel of Joel Osteen and Others Like Him”
My loved ones feel so sorry for me that I’m not living my full potential and haven’t grasped the promises of wealth and prosperity that God has just waiting for me as soon as I ‘get it’. Any mention that this is NOT the God of the bible has them clucking thier tongues in sympathy for my poor theology, and the lies of Satan that I have chosen to believe. tsk tsk……
There just ain’t no takin’ thier golden-egg-layin’-goose away!
