Speed-Racer

Howdy folks, Webbie Dude Paul here once again.

Y’all need to make sure you check out the new Photo Gallery page that I just added to The No Kool-Aid Zone. This past Saturday night our resident pundit climbed behind the wheel of a Pro-Stock race car at Sharon Speedway to compete in their annual Faster Pastor race.

I think you can tell from the photos that Byron rather enjoyed himself. This was his first time piloting a race car, and I do believe he gave a good accounting for himself. He was coming extremely strong on the last lap, and without question, he would have won with one more lap.

Here is the excerpt from the official Sharon Speedway press release:

Eight local pastors competed in the speedway’s second “Faster Pastor” race and put on quite a show for the crowd as well as their parishioners! Previous winner, Rev. Erv Urshitz, of McDonaldsville United Methodist Church in Canton, Ohio, drove Jaime Duncan’s #67 stock to victory. Pastor Jim Stewart of Orangeville Baptist Church started on the front row with Byron Harvey from Fellowship Community Church in Mercer, PA. Whipkey jumped to the early lead followed by Harvey. Urshitz started third and made his way to the lead by lap 3. Whipkey battled back to lead laps 4 thru 7, but Urshitz made a move on the final circuit to take the win. Whipkey finished third second, followed by Harvey and Tom Stiver of Niles, Ohio’s Fairview United Methodist Church. Other pastors participating were Rev. Jim Koehler of Shekinah Church in Bristolville, Ohio, track chaplain Pastor Joe Nevin of Hartford Community Church and Rev. Rick Oaks of First United Methodist Church in Warren, Ohio.

When you view the Photo Page, make sure you use the slideshow button and arrows (at the bottom) to scroll thru the photos; due to a design issue, the thumbnails were forced to be too small to be useable. Also be aware that there seems to be an annoying stutter to the slideshow when using Internet Explorer, this problem does not occur if you are using either the FireFox or Opera browser.

  • No Kool Aid Zone?

drink the Kool-Aid - to accept an argument or philosophy blindly.

no kool aid zoneThis phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Radically Tolerant - of all people, irrespective of race, faith, circumstance. As a person, you will be treated with the respect and dignity you deserve as an individual created in the image of God.

Radically Intolerant - of slipshod reasoning, emotion without intellectual substance, bad ideas, lazy thinking, cowardly ad hominem attacks, the preposterous notion that 9/11 is some government conspiracy (proceed directly to the Loony Bin; do not pass "Go"; do not collect $200), the designated hitter, and the Dallas Cowboys.
