“Loose Change” = Loose SCREWS
Everybody on board the Massive, Implausible Conspiracy Bus!!! It’s “Loose Screws”, a documentary made by several wiseacre post-college types in which they raise some (admittedly interesting) questions about 9/11. Here’s the link if you want to watch the whole hour-and-twenty-minutes for yourself:
Reason I found this is because Mike Gallagher yesterday was talking to some people who had watched this video and then come to the conclusion that 9/11 is this big government conspiracy. It wasn’t AA Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon; no, it was a cruise missile of some type. United 93 didn’t crash in a field in Shanksville, PA; no, it landed in Cleveland instead (assumedly, via the Bermuda Triangle or something, where all the passengers disappeared?). Osama bin Laden is a pretty decent old chap who should not be considered to be behind this; nope, it’s President Bush and his brother Marvin. And it goes on and on, piecing together every possible piece of questionable material and ignoring acres and acres full of corroborating evidence and common sense. Apparently a lot of college students are scarfing this thing up. Note to students: gullibility is not a highly-rated virtue when seeking future employment.
This phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Bravo, Byron. Unfortunately, the creators of “Loose Change” managed to get EVERYTHING wrong. They simply couldn’t be bothered with fact-checking, and with a subject as important as 9/11, that’s a crying shame.

Great piece; I’m about halfway through reading it, and to all my readers, it’s worth the download and read. The folks who made loose change really did a shoddy job of research, and the people who scarf this up, well, I’d sure like to show them some land in Florida I can get them for a real good price…
