Now You SEE Them…

Global Night CommuteImagine walking miles each night just to sleep. Imagine that the reason that you do this is out of the terrifying possibility of being kidnapped, drafted into an unwilling army of recruits who are taught to kill and maim—and those kidnapped and unwilling to become killers and maimers are themselves killed or maimed. Then, imagine that you are in this situation—and you are only six years old. Such is the reality of life for thousands of children in Uganda, who find themselves caught in the middle of a “religious” war being led by a pseudo-messiah named Joseph Koni. These are the invisible children, and there are many people currently working to make these invisible ones visible.

What can you do? The last Saturday of this month, in metropolitan areas all around this country, young people are going to be commuting into the centers of those cities to sleep overnight, to raise awareness of the plight of the Invisible Children. Go to the Invisible Children website and find out more…and speak up for those who are thus far invisible.

  • No Kool Aid Zone?

drink the Kool-Aid - to accept an argument or philosophy blindly.

no kool aid zoneThis phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Radically Tolerant - of all people, irrespective of race, faith, circumstance. As a person, you will be treated with the respect and dignity you deserve as an individual created in the image of God.

Radically Intolerant - of slipshod reasoning, emotion without intellectual substance, bad ideas, lazy thinking, cowardly ad hominem attacks, the preposterous notion that 9/11 is some government conspiracy (proceed directly to the Loony Bin; do not pass "Go"; do not collect $200), the designated hitter, and the Dallas Cowboys.
