Pray for a Fellow Blogger, Bob Robinson!

Bob Robinson

Bob Robinson is a friend of mine and fellow blogger, a frequent commenter here and a good “foil”, as we have fun with each other debating ideas. He works with Coalition for Christian Outreach in the Cleveland/Akron area. I received this email from another friend, Matt Robinson (no relation):

I wanted to ask for your prayers for a very good friend of mine, Bob Robinson. Some of you know him, and others don’t. At about 11pm last night, Bob had very bad chest pains and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital. I took his wife Linda to the hospital. At 3:30a.m. they started a surgery that lasted till around 1:00 pm. He had an aortic aneurysm around his heart. The surgery went as well as it could (which is good), but it was a very dangerous emergency surgery. We were allowed to see him for only a couple minutes. Miche Spring, Linda and I were able to pray over him (he was still pretty sedated.) Lots of family and friends were there.

Please pray for his recovery, for Linda, and for their three children Trey, Joel, Kiara. We all want them to grow up with their father here. Linda is going to talk to them now about what happened and is concerned about how to do that. Aunt Karen, Amber Hale and Wendy Nowak (good friends of Linda’s) have been taking turns watching the kids, as well as coming to the hospital today.

The surgery went well and we are all optimistic. Bob is young and healthy. It was a pretty scary night. But it was cool to see family and friends come together, and to see God in this.

Would you please take a moment now and lift my friend Bob, his wife Linda, and their kids up to our Father? Thank you.

Most Recent Update:

Hi, all. Today is Tuesday, Feb. 21. Thank you all for your love and prayers. Linda said this morning was not a good morning. Bob was very agitated during the times he was awake. It’s discouraging in the ups and downs.

They have not been able to insert the feeding tube. He has a lot of air and buildup inside, so they are trying to solve that before they can insert the feeding tube. Please pray for wisdom for the medical staff, relief and healing for Bob’s body and comfort for Linda and the kids, who still have not seen him. Last night he was more normal and feeling better, but this morning was difficult. Good days and bad days. Please pray that Linda has an encouraging evening and refreshment spending time with the kids.

  3. Prayers are said. As a “member” of the church of Christian blogs, I appreciate you sharing this Byron. The waiting must be very hard. Prayers here and now for the peace that passes all understanding, a supernatural rest in God’s hands.

  • No Kool Aid Zone?

drink the Kool-Aid - to accept an argument or philosophy blindly.

no kool aid zoneThis phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Radically Tolerant - of all people, irrespective of race, faith, circumstance. As a person, you will be treated with the respect and dignity you deserve as an individual created in the image of God.

Radically Intolerant - of slipshod reasoning, emotion without intellectual substance, bad ideas, lazy thinking, cowardly ad hominem attacks, the preposterous notion that 9/11 is some government conspiracy (proceed directly to the Loony Bin; do not pass "Go"; do not collect $200), the designated hitter, and the Dallas Cowboys.
