An Open Letter to My Buddy, Rep. Daylin Leach
The American Family Association of PA, a so-called “watchdog” group, recently sent the following letter to PA representatives and senators regarding a concern about…well, you can read it for yourself:
June 7, 2005
Honorable ____________________:
Recently the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, a statewide pro-family group, acquired documentation from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). This documentation showed that the Philadelphia-based Equality Forum, an organization which promotes the homosexual lifestyle, has received $185,000 in tax dollars since December 2003. The grants were requested for “tourism promotion.†This money was used to help promote their week-long event in April/May. This year’s event included panel discussions on ‘homosexual historic icons’ such as Abraham Lincoln and workshops on how to overturn existing marriage laws and how to get homosexual special rights laws passed.
Tax dollars should not be used to promote a lifestyle which, according to the Oxford University International Journal of Epidemiology, shortens the lives of the male participants by up to 20 years, exposes those involved to greater risks of HIV/AIDS and other STDs, cancers, substance abuse and eating and psychological disorders. The findings of a new study mirror the findings published in the International Journal of Epidemiology. This new study entitled “Gay obituaries closely track officially reported deaths from AIDSâ€, and has been published in Psychological Reports (2005;96:693-697).
· The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that “people with same-sex sexual behavior are at greater risk for psychiatric disorders” – including bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, and anxiety disorders, major depression, and substance abuse.
· A Detroit homosexual newsmagazine columnist last month wrote regarding his partner: “This is his first relationship, so he has not yet been ruined by all the heartache, lies, deceit, and game-playing that are the hallmark of gay relationships…A study I once read suggested that nine out of 10 gay men cheat on their lovers.”
· The Centers for Disease Control warns that men who have sex with men “have large numbers of anonymous partners, which can result in rapid, extensive transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.”
· The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association also agrees with the above findings.
In addition, the official tourism site for Pennsylvania, which falls under the umbrella of the DCED, has a page linked from the home page, which specifically targets homosexuals. It lists ‘gay-friendly’ locations in several cities in Pennsylvania. Again – use of tax dollars to promote an extremely dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle which will have a negative impact on all Pennsylvanians.
Most Pennsylvanians do not want their tax dollars used to promote such a dangerous lifestyle. Promoting gay tourism by using tax dollars is outrageous. This sends the message to tax-paying families which hold traditional values that their values do not matter – we just want your tax dollars and we’ll spend them however we wish.
I urge you to further investigate this outrageous use of Pennsylvanians hard-earned tax dollars. Promotion of the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous and not in the best interest or the well-being of Pennsylvanians. Steps must be taken to see that this waste of tax dollars is not repeated.
Sincerely,
Diane Gramley

Rep. Daylin Leach, a Democrat, decided to email a personal response to all of his PA House colleagues, apparently, as well as Capitol staff; I have reproduced that response below:
Ms. Gramley
This is just ugly. Fortunatly, someday bigotry like this will be as socially unacceptable as the racist garbage that our forebearers in the legislatures had to deal with.
Not to sound like a bumper sticker, but hate is not a family value.
I then decided to send my friend Mr. Leach a few of my own musings on the subject.
Dear Mr. Leach,
Just read your interesting reply to Diane Gramley (reproduced below, along with her letter). Guess I’m just
A.) Wondering why legitimate concern over a demonstrably-hazardous lifestyle qualifies the holders of that concern as “bigots”;
B.) Wondering how it is that you seem to be able to determine what is going on in the minds of such folks;
C.) Wondering how the promotion of a lifestyle that harms people is acceptable, but questioning that is considered “hate”;
D.) Wondering why politicians would rather throw out pejoratives and ad hominems rather than deal with the facts presented;
E.) Hoping that “someday”, what will be “socially unacceptable” will be the castigation of genuinely concerned citizens who believe that their hard-earned tax dollars are not the playtoys of politicians who are willing to try to “do good”–so long as it’s with someone else’s money.
I will congratulate you, Mr. Leach, for hereby making your first appearance as a subject of my blog, which you can find at

Best,
Byron Harvey
P.S. Do feel free to respond to my email in any way you see fit, Mr. Leach; in a spirit of full disclosure, I’ll be happy to reprint any response you send verbatim on my blog (reserving, of course, the right to respond further myself). Have a nice day!
Here’s hoping my new buddy, Representative Leach, will do us the favor of responding! Thanks in advance, Mr. Leach!

This phrase comes from the 1978 "Jonestown massacre" in which most members of the Peoples Temple cult, blindly following their leader Jim Jones, committed suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.

Great job of refuting Bryon! I’m glad you spoke up and exposed the darkness!

OH, I don’t even know where to begin. I am seething almost uncontrollably. I live in Phoenixville area. Please tell me that there is no such representative that is as filthy, immoral and as ignorant as this. I only happened to hear about him because we are pacleansweep.com, dedicated to outing him and every last immoral incumbent.
There was a link to his absolutely reprehensible blog (if you need details, I can send it to you) and I was certain that no such repugnant rep existed. Please contact me so I can get all the details and facts and launch the outrage on behalf of any moral citizens in the KOP area. We must remove the trash because our children can not afford to be exposed to such filth or bear such a fate as having this crud impacting their future.

Sorry I can’t help you any further, Dianne. I clicked on that link, but he’s obviously taken the site down now that his little secret is out. He has everything re-directed to yahoo. Clever. Diane Gramley is the one who can help, though!

Hi, I have seen the details, unfortunately. I wish there were some sort of clause allowing a repugnant rep to be removed who is not fit to serve yet alone be in a room with children. At the least, a professional would be able to likely diagnosis him as a sociopath and sexual predator. Please, if there is anything I can do to help the cause of removing him from office, let me know. It is a vital mission.

Dr. Monica Treichel is the obvoius alternative to Leach. She won’t be the embarassment that he is. Below are some links and people to contact, to help get sanity back to the state legislature

Just a few of the thousands he says he wrote (most while in his taxpayer paid office/ Harrisburg hotel room) it is ironic that he mentions in one about his support of NAMBLA – North American Man Boy Love Association.

Now He doesn’t want term limits on State Legislators. I guess it is because he may have a hard time finding a job in a world that sees his humor as vulgur and on the edge of sexual preditor. If he come to my daughters school, I will call the Pricipal, Superintendent and take her out of school for the day, rather than have her exposed to that sick “Bill Clinton Wanna-be”
