On NFL Uniforms

I would not have done anything with this unless the ranker correctly identified the far-and-away-ugliest-uniforms-in-the-NFL correctly. His credentials were on the line–and the man came through–so having proved his credibility by correctly identifying the NFL’s ugliest, I present this man’s work.

Grant Ranks the NFL Uniforms

You’ll have to go read the article to find out which team has the ugliest uniforms, but I’ll give one hint: I heard someone say, a few years back, that this team’s new helmet design resembled a “varicose pumpkin”. Correct. And ugly as it gets…

  2. How many times have you seen this scenario? Team A has the ball at Team B’s nine yard line. It’s first and goal with seven seconds left in the third quarter. Team A comes out in a shotgun formation and Team B calls a timeout to get the appropriate personnel on the field and the NFL takes a commercial break.

Back from commercial, Team A runs the ball up the middle and is stopped at Team B’s five yard line. The quarter ends and the NFL takes a commercial break.

After the teams change sides, Team A scores on a fantastic roll out pass by the quarterback with 14:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. Team A kicks the extra point and the NFL takes a commercial break.

When they finally get back to the game, Team A kicks off to Team B who returns the ball to their own 24 yard line. After the play, the NFL takes a commercial break.

Then, when they FINALLY return from the final commercial, the announcers tell you to make sure you watch the “new hit show” on *insert network here*.

Now let’s do the math here. For eleven seconds of actual game time, you’ve had to sit through approximately twelve minutes of commercials. Why do they do this? Like I mentioned earlier, the NFL doesn’t care about you. The only thing that matters to them is the bottom line.

  3. But…we’re not asking the NFL to care. We’re just fans, not liberals.

  4. Byron, you’re just elated that your beloved Stealers come in at number 6. And I’ve got one word for “NFL Detractor”: TiVo.

  5. Actually, I posted after reading ONLY the bottom four! When he got the Bengals right, I knew that he couldn’t be ALL wrong. I’d have put the Jets near the bottom, though, instead of near the top. Ugly.

  6. Fox is the worst culprit of excessive commercials and self promotion. How many times do we need to be reminded that A “all new episode of bullshit is coming up after the game. Lo and behold Joe Moviestar has a seat on the 50 yard line! “Just happpens to be in the new show we have been shoving down your throats for the last hour! Oh yea, there’s a football game here”. Do we need high tech, super imposed graphics to tell us its 3rd @ 5? Fox makes the games almost unbearable to watch!
